Somewhere Near Breckenridge is a loosely painted impasto, acrylic landscape painting of my interpretation of part of a view of Tenmile range as seen from the Breckenridge side, out the backdoor of a friend who is lucky enough to have an exquisite view. The painting surface is watercolor paper.

Although in the past, I have usually painted with watercolor, I have a strong inclination to also paint in thick, heavily textured strokes, so it was truly satisfying creating, this time, with acrylics. I also love having the opportunity to paint with different tools, including a palette knife, fingers, and an old credit card.

The Colorado mountains and sky offer endless possibilities for expressing the mood of the painter, showing different times of the day, dawn or dusk, sunrise or sunset, weather, seasons, emotions, and the moment by moment experience of being in nature. I hope this lively, expressive painting brings joy.
