In Fractured Lucidity, an owl peers mysteriously from an autumnal explosion of yellow, gold, orange and red leaves. This is an abstract exploration of negative space, interesting shapes and layers of color, demonstrating the way our eyes and brains can fill in missing information to complete our interpretation of what we see.

Using a combination of hard and soft edges, I enjoyed exploring the shapes and textures of leaves and feathers, and the sheer, vivid joy of warm brilliant colors that burst in a fiery composition what definitely commands attention. I started this painting over a year ago, and forgot about it as it was pushed aside for more pressing issues. Recently, I rediscovered the piece and became determined to finish it. So, here it is!
