A pop of color. Soulful, glowing eyes. This owl has fireworks energy! Requests for more owls, led me to offer this squat, big-eyed friend. Each owl has its own personality and message. I am happy to paint one of my favorite subjects, so long as I can keep it fresh. Bright shades of orange, green, blue, yellow and everything they mix when wet and splashing bring a modern quality to your decor.

A wildly colorful owl perches fancifully against a loosely splattered background. The vibrant rainbow of colors and patterns suggest this painting as a perfect addition to a child's room, nursery, kitchen, bathroom or anywhere you can appreciate a light-hearted and whimsical element.

Owls are among my favorite subjects, and truthfully I can't exactly say why. But they fascinate me with their mysterious appearance, nocturnal activity and long history as a symbol in word mythology and culture.
Owls are a group of birds that belong to the order Strigiformes, constituting 200 extant bird of prey species. Most are solitary and nocturnal, with some exceptions (e.g., the Northern Hawk Owl). Owls hunt mostly small mammals, insects, and other birds, although a few species specialize in hunting fish. They are found in all regions of the Earth except Antarctica, most of Greenland and some remote islands. Though owls are typically solitary, the literary collective noun for a group of owls is a parliament. Owls are characterized by their small beaks and wide faces, and are divided into two families: the typical owls, Strigidae; and the barn-owls, Tytonidae.
