Artist's Description
This is a black and white version of the original full color painting, available as prints.
The red fox is a species of animal with a wide range, and the admirable and enviable ability to adapt and survive in a variety of environments, both rural and increasingly urban. In this and many ways, foxes and humans are similar. 

I have always been attracted to their playful demeanor, gorgeous red fur and strange resemblance to both cats and dogs. Any time I catch sight of a sleek fox or playful fox family I feel the delight of a child. 

This particular fox had been sleeping deeply in my parents' backyard, on this particular day. This is how it appeared shortly after it awoke and notices that photographs were being taken. I had the opportunity to see the same fox both resting and while awake, on several occasions, and became enchanted. 

Throughout world literature the fox is a common character, although different places may have different feelings about this tricky critt...

To me, making art is about the stopping of time, as are so many of the things I most love doing. I don't believe in time as we know it. When I become engaged in creating something, I no longer feel subject to time's constricting whims. That is why I am driven to create. I love the light touch and thrilling chemistry of watercolor painting, the bold strokes possible in pastel work, the patterns I can create with an ink drawing, and learning something new, always.
