The gorgeous iridescent plumage of the peacock is, naturally, a delightful subject to paint, both for the colors and the form. Shades of blue, turquoise, teal, green, lime, gold, violet, black and white all shining and sparkling. A waterfall of a tail, and a crowned head. Irresistible. What's more, this regal creature is a symbol of immortality and renewal, in western tradition and alchemy. In Hinduism the Peacock is associated with Lakshmi who is a deity representing benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and good luck.
I have always wondered where wild peacocks make their habitat and whether they are still able, in these times of serious environmental challenges. As it turns out, these beautiful birds must be tougher than they appear. Many live in the Thar desert.

To me, making art is about the stopping of time, as are so many of the things I most love doing. I don't believe in time as we know it. When I become engaged in creating something, I no longer feel subject to time's constricting whims. That is why I am driven to create.
