These simple, warm, earth-toned wild mushrooms are painted with a light hand, on re-purposed paper from an outdated, aging, yellowing and falling apart book. The paper proves ideal for a warm, natural appearance that compliments natural subjects, although it is tricky to work on. The original has deckled/torn edges, and would look good either floated or matted and framed. I have painted near the center of the full sized book page, so if you have the original, you can decide how much to show in the frame. This is part of a series of up-cycled art I am developing using old books and sheet music no longer in use.

To me, making art is about the stopping of time, as are so many of the things I most love doing. I don't believe in time as we know it. When I become engaged in creating something, I no longer feel subject to time's constricting whims. That is why I am driven to create. I love the light touch and thrilling chemistry of watercolor painting, the bold strokes possible in pastel work, the patterns I can create with an ink drawing, and learning something new, always. Color thrills me. Texture delights. I hope with each work to retain the clarity of what I see, and bring that into view for others.
