Description
Warm flowers of the trumpet vine on a backdrop of deep denim blue celebrate the transition from summer into fall. This arrangement was completed en plein air. The complimentary colors of orange and blue play well with the vibrant greens invoking a sense of seasons transitioning from hot days to crisp evenings.

According to Wikipedia, the flamboyant flowering of Campsis radicans made it obvious to even the least botanically-minded of the first English colonists in Virginia. Consequently the plant quickly made its way to England early in the 17th century. Its botanical parentage, as a hardy member of a mostly subtropical group, made its naming problematic: according to John Parkinson, the Virginia settlers were at first calling it a jasmine or a honeysuckle, and then a bellflower; he classed it in the genus Apocynum (dogbane). Joseph Pitton de Tournefort erected a catch-all genus Bignonia in 1700, from which it has since been extricated.

According to http://mokajing.blogspot.com, the trumpet creeper, which comes from China, is a variety of deciduous arbor-vine plant. The saffron yellow or red and yellow flowers whose appearance is like a trumpet often bloom in later summer. It blooms for a very long time in the blossom time. Once in Korea, the trumpet creeper was allowed to be planted only in a scholars courtyard. If the common people were found having planted this flower in their own courtyards, they would be arrested and beaten very seriously until they promised they wouldnt plant it again. So this flower was also called The Scholar Flower.

Luckily, these days, no one, presumably, will beat you for growing this lovely, and striking blooming vine.
