Description
Bella Vita or Good Life
This is a miniature painting of a simple pleasure, an affordable bottle of wine from Montepulciano in Tuscany Italy, near Siena, bearing the label Bella Vita. The importers describe it as a rich, old-vine Montepulciano from Abruzzo. On a cold and snowy Colorado day, what could be more delightful than a glass of red wine at home with my family, and my memories of travels in Italy and a visit to Montepulciano. My stay there was brief, and as it was a Sunday, there was little to do in this small town but visit a local wine cellar for a tasting. The generous, elderly proprietor directed us to a table filled with bottles in the cool cellar, with the words help yourself, more or less, and we stumbled away happily an hour or so later toting several bottles we would then drag along on the train the rest of our trip. It was well worth the extra effort for both the wine and the memory.

According to:
http://www.nautilus-mp.com/tuscany/presentazione/montepulciano/indexing.html
Montepulciano, is built along a narrow limestone ridge and, at 605 m (1,950 ft) above sea level. The town is encircled by walls and fortifications designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder in 1511 for Cosimo I. Inside the walls the streets are crammed with Renaissance-style palazzi and churches, but the town is chiefly known for its good local Vino Nobile wines. a long, winding street called the Corso climbs up into the main square, which crowns the summit of the hill.

Just like Bella Vita wine itself, this original painting is priced so anybody could afford this simple pleasure, and a small taste of the good life.
