A Golden Aura-Rule Of Thirds
This is a slightly cropped version of my original painting, A Golden Aura. In this particular case, the composition relies on the rule of thirds for suitable placement of the subject. The original may be ideal for some purposes, a cell phone cover, for example. I think I prefer this composition on the whole, for a framed piece of art. Naturally, whoever buys the unframed original can make these choices, with the help of a framer, to suit personal tastes and space. For those of you who enjoy prints, now you also have two choices. I like painting owls. This one is painted in an unusual earthy combination of brown, yellow, violet and blue, using the traditional watercolor method of leaving the white of the paper where the bird�s plumage is white or highlighted, and surrounded in a metallic golden background, that is more evident in the original than the prints. To me, making art is about the stopping of time, as are so many of the things I most love doing. I don't believe in time as we know it. When I become engaged in creating something, I no longer feel subject to time's constricting whims. That is why I am driven to create. I love the light touch and thrilling chemistry of watercolor painting, the bold strokes possible in pastel work, the patterns I can create with an ink drawing, and learning something new, always.
