Light Is Everything is a semi abstract watercolor of a chickadee bird perching on a ponderosa tree branch. These adorable songbirds are always around, but somehow it is a delight to see them each and every time.

The Colorado sunshine was glowing beautifully through the needles of the tree, throwing off tiny rainbows of colorful light. The background reveals a wet in wet painting technique, while the pine needles required a drier approach to painting, including drybrush.

I enjoyed approaching a typical bird in an uncommon way, to produce a painting that displayed the presence of the tiny, lively creature.
