Artist's Description
This simple sumi-e style painting of a rabbit in the snow was rendered in the asian, minimalist painting style of sumi-e. I have long admired asian art and aesthetic principles, and especially enjoy the contrast between these and my other paintings, that have so much color, and far more detail. I also love the way practicing this art informs and enhances the other styles of art I make.

This is not, of course, a traditional sumi-e, or ink wash painting, as I have used watercolor paints and paper, as opposed to ink and rice paper. Truly, it is more inspired by such works.

To me, making art is about the stopping of time, as are so many of the things I most love doing. I don't believe in time as we know it. When I become engaged in creating something, I no longer feel subject to time's constricting whims. That is why I am driven to create.
