This intensely vibrant and childlike owl represents my first attempt at painting with watercolor on ampersand aquabord. As you can see, the colors retain their vivid brightness beyond what is usual on watercolor paper. For a small painting, this has a big impact. The owl's eyes seem to glow, and the bright plumage almost vibrates against the deep night sky and misty full moon in the background. Because the painting is on ampersand aquabord with a 2 inch cradle, basically, the original painting is ready to hang without needing glass or requiring a frame, although it will fit nicely in any frame designed for framing an oil painting. The sides all around the painting are a natural birch wood, light in color, and quite attractive. Of course, the painting itself has been protected with a clear varnish spray. Because the colors are intense and vibrant, the painting looks interesting even in a fairly dark room. My daughter loves it. Perhaps this radiant owl appeals to the child in you?

Color thrills me. Texture delights. I hope with each work to retain the clarity of what I see, and bring that into view for others. I may not always achieve that, but the honest desire is present in each of my pieces. For those who enjoy facts; I am a signature member of...
