I painted these sunny blooms in The Orangery at Denver Botanic Gardens, while sitting in a patch of sunlight on the floor, near the windows. The Orangery is a long glass room filled with the fragrance of citrus plants in flower, and the kind of humidity and brightness we long for here in Colorado in February, which can be very dry and alternately sunny and gloomy, with regular snowstorms. School groups, locals, tourists, horticulturists and botanists, environmentalists and any number of others passed through, stopped to chat and visit and enjoyed the orchid show while the painting was in progress.

Orchid lovers and collectors really know their plants, and I would not dare to guess which species this one is, but welcome comments on identification from those in the know. Also, if anybody can think of a better title to suggest for the painting, I am entertaining all options.
