Sake
This is a colorful still life painting of a bottle of sake, two sweet peppers and two green olives with pimientos, a sake cup and, in the background, a scroll or wall hanging. The cup is part of a set depicting Japanese shunga or erotic art. If you look closely, you may discern an image in my loose interpretation of the woodblock print as portrayed on the tiny vessel. although, hopefully, it is subtle. These cups were brought back to me from Japan, by my husband. To view a similar set and learn a bit more about the art of Shunga, check out the blog link here https://japlanning.wordpress.com/2013/03/12/genuinely-japan/, which I conveniently found while searching to learn who the Japanese artist was. Unfortunately, I still don't have the answer to that. Anyway......

To me, making art is about the stopping of time, as are so many of the things I most love doing. I don't believe in time as we know it. When I become engaged in creating something, I no longer feel subject to time's constricting whims. That is why I am driven to create.
