Robin in the Holly

Description
An American Robin perches in a holly bush, waiting for the opportunity to score a treat. Loosely painted foliage in greens and turquoise frames this classic, large, redbreasted songbird.
*****
The original of this painting has a subtle sheen and glisten accomplished with some of the Daniel Smith line of paints, and this sparkle is especially visible in strong light or direct, natural sunlight.
*****
The robin is a common, but popular, large songbird. It charms us with its cheerful breast of orange and red, its distinctive song and eagerness to appear anywhere soil has been overturned, in search of worms with little regard for or fear of nearby humans. We see them regularly here in Colorado, and I believe some variety can be found on every continent.
*****
Perhaps we are also instinctively drawn to anything signaling the change of seasons and a return to warm, comfortable weather.
