Description
Plumage And Poppies
*****
A flutter, a flicker, a flash of joy. Plumage And Poppies highlights a stopped moment in time, of a hummingbird and poppies:;two things that truly never stop moving. The flashing jewel of the bird and the silken flutter of the flowers are somehow always in motion, and when we have the opportunity tp enjoy their beauty, it is always a fleeting moment.

I delighted in painting some of my favorite flowers, so wild and uncontained, with the hummingbird appearing to have just arrived at the edge of the scene, visible suddenly out the corner of the eye.

According to:
http://www.defenders.org/hummingbirds/basic-facts
Hummingbirds are small, colorful birds with iridescent feathers. Their name comes from the fact that they flap their wings so fast (about 80 times per second) that they make a humming noise. Hummingbirds can fly right, left, up, down, backwards, and even upside down. They are also able to hover by flapping their wings in a figure-8 pattern. They have a specialized long and tapered bill that is used to obtain nectar from the center of long, tubular flowers. The hummingbird’s feet are used for perching only, and are not used for hopping or walking. Because the fluttering wings of the hummingbird move in the pattern of an infinity symbol, they are perceived to represent eternity, continuity, and infinity. According to:http://www.whats-your-sign.com/hummingbird-animal-totem.html, "By observing the hummingbird, we see they are seemingly tireless. Always actively seeking the sweetest nectar, they remind us to forever seek out the good in life and the beauty in each day."

This orginal painting has deckled edges, with the flowers and bird coming directly to the limits of the available space, and would best benefit from a floating mount and framing.
