Description
That Strange Frozen Place Where You Keep What Is Left
A frozen blue scene of icy, mountainous wilderness and a few dark trees contained in a square format, express a chilly world of silence and untouched spaces. Jagged, craggy peaks, rocky and barren jutting into a misty sky before the shimmer and glow of a full moon lead to an exploration of a mysterious longing. Why is it that my attempts to paint imaginary landscapes somewhere out there, keep turning into something else entirely, in here? Time and distance offer us so little, if not protection against that .

When it is obvious to me that a particular artist has served as an influence for a painting of mine, I try to give credit. In this case, the artists Ted Trujillo (who I knew for many years, but with whom I am no longer in touch) and Bobby Bales, his brother, have had an impact that is visible in this piece. Below is contact information, for those who would like to explore their work.

Lovely work, as imposing as real wilderness (inside and out).

So cold I can hardly look at it any longer. I was shivering while painting.

This is a mesmerizing painting. The contrast, the colors, soft and hard edges and shapes allows a viewer to wander. Dreamy. L

Amazingly kind comments, Carlin. I really appreciate your consideration.
