A fragrant stargazer lily blooms magnificently on a page of sheet music. This original watercolor painting was created using a unique system and approach that allows me to paint directly on vintage and antique sheet music or book pages that are no longer being used for their original purpose. By maintaining both the aging charm of the original document and also the high quality painting, I can produce gorgeous original artworks, and keep a few items from ending up in the trash. The subject area has been treated to receive the paint well, while the remainder is left untouched to reveal the charm of the original repurposed material. Because of this, there is also much more of a textured appearance than watercolor paintings ordinarily have. Shadows on the art print indicate the natural warping of the paper as it receives the water and paint, and give the viewer the feeling of the authenticity of the vintage materials. The original painting is not completely flat and might look especially beautiful when framed as floating.

I have always found sheet music to be beautiful. I took this page from the 1956 edition of Organ Classics and Transcriptions Volume 1, by Porter Heaps. And Arthur Wildman. The original musical composition is by Tchaikovski.

Andante is a musical tempo marking meaning a moderate tempo in music. I believe Andante means walking. Cantabile is a direction to play the piece of music in a singing manner. Therefore, Andante Cantabile means to play a piece of music at a moderate tempo with a singing effect.
